Motorcycle Fork Service in Kempton Park
Your forks do more work than any other part of your bike. Every landing, braking bump and rock hit goes through them. Over time the oil breaks down and gets dirty, and the bike slowly gets harsher, divier and harder to trust.
At 266 Suspension, George Wright services forks for MX, enduro, adventure and trail bikes from our workshop in Bonaero Park, Kempton Park, an easy trip from the East Rand, Johannesburg and Pretoria. George has 10 years of experience in suspension fine-tuning and has been involved in motorsport racing for over thirty years.

Signs your forks need a service
- Oil on the fork legs or a wet ring on the stanchion after a ride
- The front end feels harsh over small bumps or rocks
- The forks dive hard under braking or bottom out on landings
- The bike feels vague or twitchy in corners and ruts
- It’s been more than 20 to 30 hours of riding since the last service, or you can’t remember when it was
Why regular fork servicing matters
Fork oil suffers from two things: heat and contamination. Heat slowly breaks the oil down, so damping fades. Contamination comes from dirt getting in and from tiny bits of worn internal parts. The longer that dirty oil stays in, the more it wears the expensive parts, like the tubes and their hard coatings and the damping cartridges.
Because the change happens slowly, most riders adapt to it without noticing. That’s why we recommend changing your suspension fluid every 20 to 30 hours of riding.
What we do
- Strip, clean and inspect your forks
- Rebuild them with fresh oil, replacing worn parts where needed
- Set the forks up for your weight and riding
- Remove and refit the forks if you bring the whole bike in
Clean bikes only, please. Suspension internals are precision hydraulics with tiny ports and tight clearances. Bring your bike or parts in washed, or we’ll gladly give them a bath before they come into our suspension centre.
Want more than a service? Add a re-valve and setup. A fluid change is part of a re-valve anyway, not an extra.

Fork service FAQ
How often should I service my forks?
We recommend a fluid change every 20 to 30 hours of riding. If you race or ride a lot of mud, sand and dust, go sooner rather than later.
How much does a fork service cost?
It depends on your fork, its condition and whether you add other work like a re-valve. WhatsApp us your bike and fork details and we’ll give you a quote.
Can I just bring the forks in?
Yes. Bring the forks in off the bike, or bring the whole bike and we’ll remove and refit them for you.
Should I service the shock at the same time?
Usually it’s a good idea. The shock works just as hard, and the bike handles best when both ends are in the same condition. See our shock service.
Send your suspension from anywhere
You don’t have to be in Gauteng. Riders courier their forks and shocks to us from across South Africa and beyond. We’ve done work for clients in Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Angola, the DRC, Eswatini and as far as Dubai. WhatsApp us first and we’ll arrange it with you.
