Motorcycle Suspension Lowering
Can’t touch the ground? You’re not alone. Modern dirt bikes are tall, and tippy-toeing in technical terrain, on a hill start or in traffic knocks your confidence fast.
266 Suspension lowers bikes the proper way, from our workshop in Bonaero Park, Kempton Park. We can lower many bikes. WhatsApp us your bike model and we’ll tell you what’s possible.

Is lowering for you?
- You can only touch down on your toes, or on one side
- You avoid technical sections because you can’t dab a foot
- You’re a newer, shorter or returning rider wanting more confidence
Why internal lowering is the right way
There are shortcuts to lowering a bike: very soft springs, lowering links, or backing off the shock spring preload. They do bring the seat down, but they can also create handling hazards. The bike sits too low in its stroke, the steering geometry changes, and the suspension can bottom out harder and sooner.
Internal modification is the only way to bring the ground within reach while keeping proper steering and handling. Properly lowered suspension keeps the original margin of safety at the bottom-out points, but brings the chassis and seat height down so you feel confident and comfortable.
What we do
- Chat with you about your height, inseam, weight and riding
- Lower the suspension internally, keeping the front and rear balanced so the bike steers properly
- Check spring rates and sag for your weight
- Remove and refit the forks and shock if you bring the whole bike in
- Combine it with a fluid change or a re-valve while the suspension is open
Suspension lowering FAQ
Can you lower my bike, and by how much?
It depends on the bike and its suspension. WhatsApp us your make, model and year, and your inseam, and we’ll tell you what’s realistic.
Will lowering make my bike handle badly?
Not when it’s done internally and both ends are balanced. That’s why we don’t use shortcuts like soft springs or backed-off preload.
How much does lowering cost?
It depends on your bike and whether you combine it with other work. WhatsApp us for a quote.
